Every time I log onto my computer whether after restarting or logging off , the "Update Windows" option is not available the first time I enter the store from the start screen.

After a few minutes, I can go in again and the option is there. This happens regardless of whether I've been logged in for a few minutes or a few hours. This is the more serious issue. I have selected "Update Windows" and then "Download" on multiple occasions over multiple days even on the same day. What happens is the little green dots race across the top of the "Download" screen for about seconds and then the Windows Store "closes" by which I mean the screen is green with the white shopping bag and I must manually close it to access the store again and returns me to the start screen.

That is the last I see of the "update". I never receive confirmation that it has downloaded. I never get the prompt to restart my machine after a successful installation. In fact, all of the folders that used to be in this folder that were from my download attempts are no longer in the folder.

The largest file in these now deleted folders was between 1 and 2 GB and were always of Type "File" and were the second files in the folder. As expected, there is never any update in the Windows Update area of Control Panel nor is any found when Check for updates is executed.

If this issue has been addressed elsewhere in the Microsoft Community, please direct me there. If not, please help I continued searching this site for "related" topics and found the "answered" post I am running windows 8 no problems. The store will not allow me to upgrade to window 8. Will not download. I [sic] said my computer is not compatible. Windows Store came up with the Windows 8. I selected it. The green dots obediently ran across the top of my screen and then I actually now have an Installs screen with Windows 8.
